When The Gavel Falls
01:04
|
|||
They quantify our actions but there’s reason for doubt
I’m planning to fight on but my mind’s in a drought; you scream, I’ll shout
There’s panic; these tactics devised on a whim
I, can’t, figure out what’s worse; we labor on, the mind coerced
Now tell me when the gavel falls, did you live or just exist?
Now gather ‘round those large and small
For those who run first had to crawl
Our journey ends, you’ll pass or fail
Just take it slow, breathe in, exhale
Preoccupied with this and that
No time to wait, no time to chat
Decisions made will shatter faith
Just death and taxes, get it straight
They quantify our actions but there’s reason for doubt
I’m planning to fight on but my mind’s in a drought; I scream, you’ll shout
There’s panic; these tactics devised on a whim
I, can’t, figure out what’s worse; we struggle on, the lie rehearsed
Now tell me when the gavel falls, did you live or just exist?

Not Myself
01:05
|
|||
I understand you’ve got some problems you’d like to discuss.
What seems to be troubling you today?
It’s always stuff and this and that; can’t sleep or eat, don’t like to chat
Anxious mood and some despair; my woman left, I didn’t care
I see. It sounds like you’ve got an awful lot on your mind.
About how long have you been feeling this way?
I can’t recall, a month or two; don’t leave my bed ‘til almost noon
I lost my job and lost my friends; sold my camera but kept the lens
I’m just not myself
I’m just not myself unless I’m stressed out.
I’m just not myself
I just need a moment to step back and think.
I’ll be honest; I’m concerned for your well being.
Is there anybody close by that you can stay with until you can sort yourself out?
Don’t worry, now; I’ll be just fine; this inner-voice that fills my mind
I used to dwell or wait to choose; but that’s the past, I paid my dues
I’m just not myself
I’m just not myself unless I’m stressed out.
I’m just not myself
I just need a moment

Résumé Attached
01:03
|
|||
Overqualified and underpaid; did well in school, wish I never stayed,
Please view my resume attached
Bank account still running dry; raise denied without reasons why,
I hope you find my resume attached
Spent all that time to earn a specialized degree,
In a field that offers table scrapes until you’re 10 years deep.
Burnout fatigue I hope won’t triumph in the end,
Or it’s back to retail customers, oh crap, not this again!
Made the grades; put in the work; now all I need is to find some work,
So please find my resume attached
Searching lists on the internet; browse all the jobs I’ll never get,
You can see my resume’s attached
Added all my references; plus, detailed work history,
Those transcripts signed and sealed, cost me 5 bucks a piece
Look forward to speaking more, about the job I’m trying for,
Take a moment to judge my worth since you’ll find my resume attached

A Convict In Rome
01:17
|
|||
Free to roam, but can’t escape; effects of gravity
The nucleus, electron clouds; construct reality
Particulates compound, before your eyes
Focused light, take in the sights; observed complexity
Watch shifting moons, the clouds arise; untamed variety
New calculations showed, the scriptures lied
[But] there’s danger when you seek the truth with gathered facts from cosmic views
And yet it moves, this rock, our home; best hold your tongue when trapped in Rome
Such narrow minds controlling fate; denouncing words, the purest hate
It’s sadly true, one man’s demise; convicted heresy
On house arrest, until he died; moral catastrophe
Geocentric can’t be fact, his claims were right
[But] there’s danger when you seek the truth with gathered facts from cosmic views
And yet it moves, this rock, our home; best hold your tongue when trapped in Rome
Such narrow minds controlling fate; denouncing words, the purest hate
Focused light, take in the sights; observed complexity
Watch shifting moons, the clouds arise; untamed variety
It’s sadly true, one man’s demise; convicted heresy

Danger Ranger
01:00
|
|||
Arms steady at the wheel; shifting quickly into drive
Revs climb as tires squeal; you might not make it out alive
The Danger Ranger is a terror on the roadways
It’s mean and green and gulps unleaded 85
Commands attention but it, can’t pass inspection
Danger Ranger’s out there tearing up the road
What hides beneath its hood; might could haunt you in your sleep
You bet this beast can haul some wood; don’t come up in here with your Jeep
The Danger Ranger is a terror on the roadways
It’s mean and green and gulps unleaded 85
Commands attention but it, can’t pass inspection
Danger Ranger’s out there tearing up the road

I Looked (Tom Hanks)
01:16
|
|||
Just minding my business and watching the floor;
Was caught by surprise, guess who walked through the doors
They’re filming at sea here just right off the coast;
With modern day pirates straight hijacking boats
They told me to stop, look, it’s Tom Hanks
I turned and I looked, it was Tom Hanks
Hey, Aaron, I’m serious, man, it’s Tom Hanks
It was right at that moment I turned and I looked!
